On her death bed, Doua’s mother urged him to pursue his dream of becoming a police officer. But the hurdles facing the multi-lingual cadet only mounted.

Born in Laos, Doua Lor attended Iowa State University before joining the Des Moines Police Department where he built the Asian Outreach Program. Lor says he is married a wonderful woman and has four beautiful kids. He was promoted to the rank of sergeant in 2017.
